RIP, Mike Tag

So many will say more significant things about the man than I ever could, so I’ll keep this short and simple. Rest in peace, Mike Tag. Your DIY spirit was the exact embodiment of what BMX meant to me and gave me the drive to move past the boundaries of my hometown to find where my bike could steer my life. Thanks Mike. Hope to one day meet you on the other side.

It's with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of BMX legend Mike Tag.

Mike was diagnosed with a Stage II Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a cancer that affects lymphoid tissue, around one year ago. The BMX community rallied behind Mike as he put up one hell of a fight, but his fight has sadly come to an end.

Many BMX riders took to Twitter to discuss their reactions to Mike's untimely passing. Read a few below -

"I was lucky enough to go on a couple trips with Tag and I will never forget that. I looked up to Tag from when I was just getting into BMX. There will never be another Mike Tag." - Aaron Ross

"Mike Tag, hank you for making BMX awesome, and inspiring more people than one could ever comprehend. BMX won't be the same without you." - Catfish

"It really hits home to see people pass from such a horrific thing. I'm really sorry for his family and close friends. Hang in there guys...." - TJ Lavin

"So bummed right now. R.I.P. Mike Tag. Thanks for the inspiration. One of the most modest and badass dudes to touch a bmx bike." - Brian Kachinsky

"Dude was the man in every sense of the word. Super hero shit, I'm hurting for his friends and family. You're the dude, Tag." - Darryl Tocco

"Straight up. Thank you for taking me on my first real road trip. RIP Mike Tag." - Tony Hamlin

Here's Mike section from FBM's All Time Low. In my opinion, this section truly embodies what a badass Mike was on his bike. So much burly shredding!
